Scaffold Towers
Secure mobile access towers for safe working at a height
Whether you work in construction, roofing, painting, decorating or facilities maintenance, a mobile scaffold tower provides a much safer and practical alternative to working at a height than a ladder.
These professional pieces of access equipment come as frame components, which are fixed together in order to create a tower of the desired height. When working from a scaffold tower, you have all of the space required for your tools and equipment, and you have both of your hands free to get on with the job.
Our industrial access towers are fully compliant with the latest health & safety regulations - EN1004 - so you can rest assured that you are supported by a product of the highest standards.

What is included in the Scaffold Tower range?
Our extensive mobile access tower range includes a great choice of sizes and configurations.
Sizes range from 2m platform right up to 12m platform. We offer both narrow scaffold towers and double width towers. Narrow width towers are suitable for one person use, and for areas with limited amounts of space. While double width towers provide space for two users.
We also offer both 3T access towers and AGR towers. 3T stands for ‘Through The Trap Door’ – this build method is the most common in the UK market. The tower is erected by ascending internally through a trapdoor in the platform. Advanced Guardrail Towers (AGR) offer an alternative to the usual 3T build method for scaffold towers, providing extra safety. The AGR system features guardrail frame units which are installed during the erection process. These units provide an additional layer of safety for the user.
Quick build scaffold towers, such as the Mi Tower, can be erected by just one person. While our mini scaffold towers, such as the X Tower telescopic mobile tower, provide a quick and easy option for users working at lower heights.
Our Stairway scaffold towers, such as the Lyte StairLyte, provide a specialist option for tradespeople working above stairways. Please note that stairway access towers require specific 'Towers on Stairways for Users' PASMA training.

FAQs
What is a mobile scaffolding tower?
PASMA describes a mobile access tower as “…access equipment that can be assembled and dismantled quickly and easily, with a built-in means of access and collective fall prevention in place throughout. It can only be a freestanding, single bay structure with four legs and wheels. It has only one working platform at a time and can reach a working height of 12m indoors and 8m outdoors.”
Scaffold towers come as pre-fabricated frame sections, which clip together to reach the desired height. Access to the platform is gained through a trap door in the platform, via a ladder system in the internal frame of the tower. They feature adjustable legs to account for uneven ground, and stabilisers for extra support.
Who can use a scaffold tower?
We supply a range of access towers for trade and domestic use. Though not everyone can build a scaffold tower. Domestic towers come with step-by-step instructions to help you build them safely, but if you are not sure on what you are doing, you should seek the help of a trained professional.
If you are using a scaffold tower in the workplace, the Work At Height Regulations apply to you. You must ensure that the person building the tower is trained and competent to do so, and that those who specify, use and supervise or manage the use of a tower are trained and competent to do so.
Read more on the Safe Use of Scaffold Towers on the PASMA website.
Can one person erect a scaffold tower?
While most industrial access towers require two people to build them, there are some mobile access towers that have been specifically designed to be erected by just one person. The MiTower One Person Quick Build Tower, manufactured by Pop Up Products, is designed to be erected by one person in just 10-15 minutes. It has a compact design, available in 3 different sizes, and all components fit within a handy trolley base, which allow it to be wheeled out of a van and around a site with ease.
How high can a scaffold tower go?
Scaffold towers can be built to reach a maximum working height of 12m indoors and 8m outdoors.
When should a scaffold tower not be used?
A tower must not be used:
- In windy conditions - if the average wind speed reaches 17mph you should cease work and dismantle the tower.
- If any components look worn, broken or are missing
- If there are any overhead obstructions (e.g. powerlines)
- If you need a greater weight capacity or reach than the scaffold tower you have is rated for. Never use ladders on top of scaffold towers or try to over-reach.
Can a scaffold tower be used on uneven ground?
Yes, a scaffold tower can be used on uneven ground. Most mobile access towers have adjustable legs which allow you to compensate for any uneven or slightly sloped ground. Please note that these adjustable legs must not be used to obtain extra height and at least one leg should remain in the minimum position.
What is the difference between platform height and working height?
The ‘platform height’ refers to the height at which the platform that you stand on sits at. 'Working height' refers to the maximum height you can reach up and work at while standing on the platform. This is usually 2m above the platform height, and 1m above the handrail height.
